The Darkroom
Our fully equipped darkroom produces traditional silver gelatin prints with a depth and luminosity that no inkjet or digital process can replicate. From your analog negatives or a digital file, we create handcrafted prints that are as permanent as the art they represent.
Silver gelatin prints produce the richest blacks and most delicate highlights possible — a tonal range no printer can match.
We work from original analog negatives, transparencies, or high-quality digital files — whatever your starting point.
Properly processed silver prints last well over a century. Each print is made to museum archival standards for longevity.
Rare & Archival
Platinum/palladium printing is one of the most expressive photographic processes ever devised — and one of the most permanent. Prints are hand-coated on fine art paper, contact-printed under UV light, and developed by hand. The result is a print with extraordinary tonal depth, velvety shadows, and luminous highlights that will last for centuries.
We create platinum/palladium prints from analog negatives, large-format transparencies, or digitally output negatives — making this rare process accessible to any photographer or artist.
Each sheet is brushed by hand with liquid platinum and palladium salts before exposure.
The negative lies directly on the paper — producing prints with infinitely fine grain and true photographic detail.
Platinum and palladium are among the most stable metals known — these prints genuinely last 500+ years.
Platinum/palladium fine art print — hand-coated and contact-printed in our studio
Behind the Print
Each platinum/palladium print is made entirely by hand — a centuries-old process renowned for its extraordinary tonal depth and permanence. Here's how it comes to life.
Step 1
The precious metal emulsion is hand-brushed onto fine art paper, an exacting step that determines the print's final tonal character.
Step 2
A large-format negative — analog or digitally output — is carefully prepared for contact printing, the technique that gives platinum prints their unmatched resolution.
Step 3
The coated paper is exposed to UV light, then gently developed in a chemical bath — a quiet, deliberate transformation from latent image to visible print.
Step 4
The result is a one-of-a-kind object — with luminous midtones, velvety shadows, and deckled edges that no digital process can replicate. Archival for centuries.
Preserve Your Legacy
Old photographs fade, tear, and deteriorate over time — but the memories they hold are irreplaceable. We carefully restore damaged, faded, or deteriorated photographs to their original beauty, preserving family history for generations to come.
